I know you guys are wonderin where I've gone and where are my regular monthly post.
I'm sorry for my absence from the blog, but know that its because of GREAT things!

Commissions and a couple of monthly Magazine opportunities have come my way in addition to working on my own comic book. Yes. I said it - my own comic. I tried to keep it hush hush for a while, but I'm "SO FREAKIN EXCITED!" I can't keep it on the low any more! I'm sure I just spurred questions - they will be answered.

I've mentioned before that I'm a big fan of exaggerated and cartoony art styles. So, you can see why I was an instant fan of the work from big boy artist, BeefyBlimps. Beefy's work swells with masculinity and pops with testosterone. The lust in his work seems to drip a humor that made me eager to know more about him and after interviewing him, I want to know even more!

"Slacking off. Beating off in the woods.

What are you doing when you're not drawing?

"Escaping reality. Dreaming about disappearing into nature. Living in a city really makes you appreciate the green in the world.

Training myself to relax. I'm pretty high strung. Like a high strung house cat.

Do you have any other talents outside of art?

"I've been playing the violin for about 15 years. Wish I could play it more often."

What single super power would you like to have?

"Wow. I'd love to be able to inflate things and to turn things into balloons - Anything. Everything. People. It's kind of my deep dark secret."

What would you use it for?

"Take a peek at the blown up beefers in my art and ye shall knoweth. ;-)"

Which living person do you most admire?

"Zoinkz! Maybe not just one, but I admire all the gay kids in the deep South, and in worse parts of the world. They endure anti-gay angst so visceral you could chop it with a machete and lynch the damn thing.

Troop on, ye sassy sassafrasses."

How would you like to die?

"I wouldn't mind falling off something - like a satellite. Whatever it is, make it fast."

BEEFY BLIMPS: Art

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?

"Looking to the past has always provided me a steady anchor in all matters of life, but to create new art I take a great deal of inspiration from very contemporary artist. Iwata Iwao of Muscle Manga is definitely who got me started, and the Patrick Fillions and Logans and Jiraiyas of the world are always artist I look up to, as well as comicker greats like Ed McGunniess. The content may come from my head, but the styles are contemporary, and I love to seek out the lesser known gems, like Udon Crew, Blazing Cheeks, or DrawingKuma. Inspiration is everywhere."

What is your favorite part about drawing?

"Sketching and layout. Arranging people and elements in a scene mentally before you draw them are the nuts and bolts of good image making. The rest is a big technical snorefest."

What part of drawing do you like the least?

"Inking makes me want to stab out both of my eyeballs, and coloring had a similar effect. My therapist is very helpful."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?

"Tits! Women...cars, I guess I'll never win the hearts of straight men! I just don't have the neurons in my brain devoted to computing the secy shape of a woman or a slick-ass Camero like by straight brethren. Some things are best left to the experts."

I love the the humor in your work. What is your process? Is there a routine you go through to create a piece?

"Hah! I didn't realize so much was imbued into it! You mean my Wonka™ Brand Fatty-Lifting gas? Well I definitely have a meticulous process, starting with good old fashion pencil on paper, then the rest is digital (inks/colors) I'm trying hard to nail down a consistent style (I have a few too many I think) and one that doesn't take 10 million years to complete one piece with."

How do you get over blocks in creativity?

"That's easy, just start asking questions. Why are you doing this? What's the meaning? What are you trying to communicate? Answer those first. Twist and turns in the creative path always lead back to the main road, so follow your bread crumbs, kids. Personally I don't really get creative blocks, my problem is the slow dreary pace of image making -- the tedium of which I shall politely spare you all."

What projects are you currently working on?

"I'm making some more t-shirt designers for my gainer friends, and toying with the idea of making a comic/graphic novel, but I'm keeping it mostly secret so as not to jinx its outcome."

"Oral. Just not into it.

"Inflatables. Been with me since I was a wee dirty sprig. I'm also hugely into role playing and padding and have a huge collection of costumes and weird XXL-sized clothing. hats too; police,cowboy, military, etc. My fave is a full dress blues Marines uniform with cover.

"Vin Diesel please. I could list bodybuilders but not sure if your audience would know em. All the Branch Warren fans in the house say "HEHH YEHH"

Happy June, Everybody!

This month's birthdays are:
Spanish artist, Javi Cuho, just turned the big 3-0 on June 2nd.
Tattoo master and Hard to Swallow's Dave Davenport will be 47 on the 15th
and artist extraordinaire, Belasco, celebrates another year on the 16th.

Ok. A lot is happening for me this year. Right now I'm juggling several art projects, a new schedule with my day job, and going to be traveling a bit over the next few months. So, I'm not gonna be able to get to the blog as often as before for a little while.
I will, however, still be delivering the monthly calendar stud, the monthly interview, and the rest of my zodiac series. I have a stack of uncolored fan pieces I will get to as I have the time.

This month you can look forward to a very entertaining interview with big man cartoonist, BeefyBlimps and the next in the zodiac, Cancer!
I feel confident you will love both!

Never too late to show some love

I know May has come and gone, but I didn't get around to coloring the fan pieces I prepped for Asian/Pacific Islander History Month till this week. And I can't acknowledge the month and not follow through with what I promised. So, my apologies for being late, but here's some love for those from the far east.

First up is Samurai Jack.
I can't say I really followed this cartoon, but every time I caught it, I was consistently impressed with how well they used the vector graphic style. I was a huge japanimation nut growing up. Samurai Jack felt like one of the most original looking hybrids to come out of the fusion between Japanese and American cartoons.
I also loved the culture clashes often featured in the cartoon. Two of my favorite episodes involved Jack meeting up with an entertaining Scottsman and another with a visually clever African tribe.

Similar to Samurai Jack, I haven't really followed the story lines for Psylocke much. They sort of bore me, BUT every since I've been reading X-Men, the various pieces of artwork featuring Psylocke have been unbelievably inspirational!
From pages illustrated by Jim Lee and Joe Madueria to paintings by Boris Vallejo and some amazing fan art. I will never forget a Marvel trading card from the 90's featuring a painting of Psylocke wielding two swords. If anyone of you know the name of that artist I'd love to know.
So, here's my tribute to one of the most artistically inspiring Asian characters out there.

Last up is the one and only Ryu. The web is flooded with beautiful art featuring the Japanese stud. It was only a matter of time before I tried my hand at him.
This is the first of what I'm sure will be many pieces of my take on the original street fighter.

Homosexual Virginity - 20 (Wait. Does this include oral sex? Cause, if so, then 19)"

"Haha, uh I don't know. Does drinking count?

"Everyone says flying or super strength, but for me - telepathy. Xavier style telepathy.

Of course the way I'd use it, I'd probably be considered a villain. I'd so use it for bad and naughty purposes."

The GAY COMIC GEEK: Vlogging & Comics

What comic villain are you most like?

"Haha! Wow, uh - Zoom. Reverse Flash. I'd want heroes to be better, so I'd probably do stuff that Zoom does to make them better. Don't forget, most villains don't think of themselves as villains. They think of themselves as heroes trying to help others or to take over the world for the better good."

What is your favorite part about vlogging?

"It's conceded of me, but I like the responses people give me. I used to not like attention, but now it seems like I'm craving it more and more."

Which part of vlogging do you like the least?

"Bigoted comments from gay haters. It comes with the territory, but still it sucks getting bad comments almost on a daily basis."

You've become somewhat of a celebrity among gays and geeks. Has this affected you or your life?

"Not yet. I work my butt of at my job and I try to designate a portion of my time to my vlogging life, but nothing really has changed yet. Most of my friends that I interact with on a daily basis hardly even watch my vids, so they don't even know what I talk about half the time."

Do strangers recognize you on the street?

"I'll get a person asking if I'm the GCG, but it's not that often. Sometimes at Cons I'll get it, but again it's not that often. If someone does stop me, I'm so flattered that I usually take a pic of the person myself so that I can remember that someone actually knew me."

You've mentioned in your vlogs that you have stories that you've written and the makings of your own super hero universe. Are there any plans to share that world with your fans or is it just a private hobby? I'm sure there are a lot of artist out there who wouldn't mind drawing for you.

"Maybe one day, but I'm also very secrative about my works. I've always been afraid of the criticism that I'd receive being that I'm such a huge comic book geek and then writing something that my potentially be bad. So, I may do it one day."

When can we expect a naked post from you?

"Haha! Funny you should say that. Not sure if I should reveal anything about that right now."

The GAY COMIC GEEK: Sex

From now on, every time I see you I will recall you making the statement, "..but I will be a bottom-boy-bitch depending on what's goin' on."

Describe a scenario that brings that out in you.

"Well, honestly, the guy has to be masculine, rough, and tougher than me. I can't see myself as a bottom to someone that I can hold down and overpower. It just doesn't turn me on and I can't submit cause it would just be boring and really degrading to me. If there's muscle and forcefulness involved and I'm weaker, then it's really hot cause this guy is making me his boy. I'm the toughest guy on the block, but there's no way I'm the weakest either."

Spit or Swallow?

"Spit, but if he jizzes in my mouth, he better have been damn good in bed for me to ignore the fact that he just jizzed in my mouth."

"Forceful scenarios. I'm not saying rape, but I like when guys are being manhandled, somewhat against their will. Of course I like them to resist at first but then give in cause they enjoy it. That's my biggest turn-on."

"Haha! I came a little quickly once. But that wasn't the embarrassing part. What was bad about it was that I came all over his new shoes that were stained afterwards. I felt so bad after that and he never called me again."

But you've backpacked through over 60 countries?!

"Yup. I became obsessed with travel fairly early on in my life, and pursued it relentlessly, usually taking off every year or two for at least three months."

Is there a favorite place to visit?

"Different places for different reasons: Thailand for the food, Bolivia for the landscapes, Egypt for the culture, and Germany for the nasty sex."

Do you have any other talents outside of art/writing?

"I'm an excellent massage therapist, speak decent Spanish, make fantastic French toast, and can deep throat most cocks."

"Alan Moore and Samuel Delaney are the living writers I most admire.

I also deeply admire the president, which some folks might find strange in the midst of Obama-backlash. To be a mixed-race child of African heritage raised by a relatively poor single mother and to still make it to the presidency through ambition, skill, and intellect is truly remarkable. And I think he's achieved incredible things in these first two years, including historic health-care and financial reforms (as hamstrung as they were by political realities), and in the midst of the worst economic crisis of a generation and two wars. Wow."

Favorite guilty pleasure:

"A tie between trashy superhero comics and checking out the muscle magazines at airport bookstores while waiting for a flight."

JUSTIN HALL: Comics

Which do you have more fun with - writing or drawing?

"Writing comes more easily to me, but when I pull off a good illustration, the extra challenge of that makes it all the sweeter."

Do you have a favorite genre to write in?

"I've done some of my best work in biography and autobiography, and I find working with "real life" events really liberating, as I can pay full attention to the craft of the story as opposed to the bones of it (ie. what actually happened to whom). But I'm trying to push myself to write more convincing fiction."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?

"The Hernandez Brothers are top of the list. A lot of the early women underground cartoonist like Dori Seda, Phoebe Gloeckner, Mary Fleener, etc. were hugely influential in showing me how to create good, juicy autobio comics. The bara (gay male Japanese) cartoonist are my favorite erotic artist in the world right now, and I get tons of inspiration from Gengoroh Tagame and Jiraiya. I also feel lucky enough to have a community of like-minded creators around me now from whom I draw a lot of inspiration, advice, and support, such as Dave Davenport, Steve MacIsaac, Robert Kirby, Jon Macy, etc."

What is your favorite part about writing?

"I love writing people."

What is your favorite part about drawing?

"I love drawing people... I'm a people person!"

What part of writing do you struggle with the most?

"Plotting (especially the ending), which is why fiction is harder for me than non-fiction."

How do you get over blocks in creativity?

"I never feel like I don't know what to create... I have a serious backlog of creative projects in my mind that I'll probably never have time to get to. I do of course run into times where I'm not as productive as I'd like, but those are mostly problems with time management, not inspiration."

What projects are you currently working on?

"A book with Fantagraphics called No Straight Lines: Four decades of Queer Comics, which is a comprehensive history and collection of LGBT cartooning. I'm also making a documentary film on the same theme. Plus, I'm writing a comic series about the pot industry called Harvest, and trying to finish up my graphic novel, The Liar."

"Not really. I would never say never, but I feel like I had a good run with it and I'm done for now at least."

Most embarassing sexual experience:

"I did one shoot with Mustang/Falcon where they paired me by accident with someone I wasn't in the least attracted to. He was a sweet kid, but was a young, thin, hairless twink with gelled hair, and I couldn't get it up for the life of me. It was torturous.

Luckily, another director who was a buddy of mine was on the set, and he was a hot, hairy daddy. He fluffed me enough so I could finish the scene, but it remains the only scene I've done that I've never actually watched as I'm too embarrassed about my performance."

Justin, I haven't laughed so much at an 'embarrassing sexual experience' response since imagining 6'2" - Sean-Z repeatedly sliding off some smoothie onto the floor.

I'm gonna admit, I wasn't familiar with Jon Macy prior to researching Northwest Press' creative line up. I'm a little embarrassed to share that, because the man has been in this game for good minute. His folio includes everything from comics with Eros/Fantagraphics to the anthologies of Meatmen and Gay Comix to say the least. On top of decades of experience, he offers a unique style with fantastic stories from the heart.

JON MACY: An Insight

What are you doing when you're not drawing or writing?

"Ha! That is a trick question to ask a cartoonist."

How old were you when you came out?

"I came out at 18, but went back in for a few years and then out again at 24.

It was the 80's and everyone was gay at some point."

If you could have dinner with 3 dead people, who would they be?

"Easy - Djuna Barnes, Oscar Wilde, and any of the early US Presidents"

Do you have any other talents outside of drawing and writting?

"No. I'm like those Russian speed skaters who only have muscles in one part of their body. I was designed to do only this - Comics."

If you had to replace your artistic talent with another one, what would it be?

"It would be music. I really enjoy it and part of the reason is that it is so mysterious to a visual person like myself."

Favorite guilty pleasure:

"Star Trek.
(Please don't tell anyone what a geek I am.)"

How would you like to die?

"Naked in a fur coat laying in the snow watching the clouds pass over."

"The drawing."

"Erasing the pencil after I have finished the inks.

"Aubrey Beardsley, Alex Raymond, Jaime Hernandez, Joel Peter Witkin."

What projects are you currently working on?

"My werewlof/druid gay romance and my next project is The Sebaceous Funk, a futuristic story about a cult of Charles Mingus."

You have a new book out, "Fearful Hunter." Tell us a little bit about it.

"It's a sweet, not very heroic, love story about a young druid. On the eve of his initiation, he meets a troubled young werewolf and they fall in love. It is a fictionalized version of my relationship with a mentally ill boyfriend."

What would be the circumstances for you to flip?

"They would have to be taller, bigger, older, richer, and with a bigger dick.

So, you see my options are rather limited."

"A jockstrap made out of my saliva."

"I once had an editor ask me, 'What are these little hash marks in the corner of your page?' and I told him it was the number of times I jacked off while drawing that page - got some interesting fan mail after that."

"It would have to be the butt. I like the butt."

"People who can't laugh during sex."

"When it's my size otherwise it doesn't matter at all."

If you've read Class Comic's "Mark of Aceus," then you're familiar with the writings of Zan Christensen. Zan has ascended from being a comic writer to the ranks of comics publishing. When I learned of his new company, Northwest Press, I hopped on the opportunity to get to know Zan a little more and to find out more about his new comic company.

This interview revealed Zan has worn several hats (and hair colors) in the media industry...

ZAN CHRISTENSEN: An Insight

Favorite Guilty Pleasure:
"I'm a vegetarian, but on occasion I'll have breaded chicken strips. It's so wrong but so right."

What are you doing when you're not writing?

"I'm publishing books now, so a lot of my time is spent organizing projects, proofing, working with printers, etc."

How old were you when you came out?

"I was an early bloomer; I fell in love with someone in high school in my sophomore year and came out to him because I thought he was gay too, but he wasn't. By my junior year, I was pretty much out to the world."

Which living person do you most admire?
"I'm a huge Ian McKellen fan. He's just got such amazing weight and presence, and he puts it to good use."

How would you like to die?
"Very wrinkly"

ZAN CHRISTENSEN: Writing

What is your favorite part about writing?

"At its best, writing feels like transcription for an alternate reality; you're just the conduit through which the story is flowing and it feels exciting and effortless. I'm just as thrilled to see what happens as the reader is."

Which part of writing do you like the least?

"Getting into that 'zone' is not easy, and it takes a lot of discipline to force myself to write when I'm not already inspired. (And here's a secret - if you write only when you're already inspired, you might not do a lot of writing!)"

Are there any writers who influenced your writing style?

"I was very influenced by Chris Claremont's X-Men and New Mutants work back in the day. To a thirteen-year-old kid dealing with loneliness and alienation, his stories were the truest, most "real" superhero comics I'd ever read. As I've gotten older, I find I'm influenced much more by film and stage work than by comics. I tend to like very naturalistic stories that are emotionally honest and that's harder to find in comics"

What projects are you currently working on?

"I'm putting the finishing touches on an illustrated novella called "Legacy" which is about reincarnated monster hunters living in modern Seattle and it's a star-crossed love story - sort of. I'm also submitting a short story about a gay super-villain to an anthology that's coming out in October. On the publishing front, the next Northwest Press book is David Kelly's "Rainy Day Recess: The Complete Steven's Comics," which comes out at the end of March."

Tell us about Northwest Press.

"Northwest Press (NWP) is a small publishing company that produces LGBT graphic novels and comics collections. It's released two books so far, with a third coming in March."

What inspired you to start it?

"Apart from Class Comics, which focuses exclusively on erotica, there aren't any publishing houses that focus on gay comics work. Fantagraphics' "Eros" imprint doesn't have a lot of gay content anymore. I have a lot of skills as an art director and production artist, and I wanted to bring a level of polish and professionalism to LGBT graphic novels and try to fill a need in the market."

If an artist, writer, or just a creator in general wants NWP to publish them, how would they go about it?

"At this stage, I'm personally selecting the slate of projects for Northwest press based on work that I've come across and want to expose to a wider audience, so there's no submission process right now. My advice for someone who wants to be published by NWP is to do your work and publish it online or in 'zines and minicomics and start to reach your audience. I'm plugged-in to the LGBT comics scene - I'll see it."

"The mouth - To smile, to kiss, to laugh...it's an essential."

Have you done porn?

"I was actually in a small porn film that a friend and I co-wrote and -directed for Seattle's HUMP! Film Festival, although it wasn't selected to be in the show. We took it down to San Francisco's Erotic International Film Festival last year, though, which was a blast. It was a porn parody of Luc Besson's 'The Fifth Element' called 'The Filth Element." I played the Bruce Willis role; blond hair and all. I didn't have any 'action' scenes, though. If you see me at a convention and ask nicely, maybe I'll show it to you."

What's your fetish?

"Give me a guy who wants me to say, "Sir, Yes, Sir!" and I get a little weak in the knees."

How big is "Too Big?"

"Pick up a Patrick Fillion comic book. :)

But they have the advantage of having superhero asses that can take anything."

hey Hey HEY Everybody!

It's March 2011! Spring is around the corner (for those of us in the northern hemisphere).
It looks like spring is a time for makin' babies and not having em, 'cause I only got one birthday call this month - cartoonist and phenomenal caricaturist, Brett Willis, celebrates a birthday on the 21st. Check him out on his site or on Facebook and show the stud some love.

I've got a treat for you this month. I'll be sharing not one, not two, but three Q&As with you this month. Northwest Press is a new LGBT publishing company and I've got interviews with the founder, Zan Christensen, and 2 of their creators Jon Macy and Justin Hall.
The more companies out there that support or cater to the gay community, the more opportunities there are for gay artist and writers to share their work. So, I'm happy to give a shout out for another gay publishing house and even happier to share their goods with you all.

I've got my hands full with a couple of commissions and personal projects so I won't have much art to share this month, but I will of course be posting the next in my zodiac series and I wouldn't rule out the possibility of a quicky here or there ;)

Foxxy Love

OK. Is it ironic that after my post about tokens and positive black toons, that Foxxy Love made my list of fan arts for Black History month?

I love Foxxy. I love that she is an exaggeration of stereotypes and encourages a sense of humor about sensitive issues. While living up to any stereotype the writers of Drawn Together could think of, she played an essential role in pointing out the stupidity in actually believing such crazy generalizations.

The comic world lost one its greats today. I only knew Dwayne McDuffie primarily by his work. I sadly was unaware of many of his contributions until today. Below I am sharing an informative and inspirational post from CBR in hope that you all will appreciate knowing more about him as I do.

"A native of Detroit, McDuffie officially joined the comics industry as part of Marvel Comics editorial in the late '80s. While working on special projects for the publisher, he quickly made his name as a writer creating series such as "Damage Control" and helping to redefine the Deathlok character to fan and critical acclaim. He soon left the staff to become a full time freelance writer, becoming a voice in the industry for diversity, particularly fighting against stereotypical portrayals of people of color on the comic book page.
In 1993, McDuffie co-founded Milestone Media along with creators Denys Cowan, Michael Davis and Derek T. Dingle. The company's mission statement involved expanding the role of minorities in comics both on the page and off, and they launched (through DC Comics) a line of superheroes that included "Static," "Icon" and Xombi" – all of which McDuffie had a hand in creating.
Over the years, the writer contributed to scores of notable comic book launches and series, always with a keen eye on character, regardless of race. In 2000, his character, Static, made the leap totelevision in the Saturday morning cartoon "Static Shock." In 2003, an episode of the show dealing with gun violence earned the writer the Humanitas Prize.
In recent years, McDuffie pursued dual tracks in animation and comics writing. He served as story editor for the popular "Justice League Unlimited" animated series and wrote a number of DC's recent direct-to-DVD animated films. McDuffie had notable runs on comic series "Fantastic Four" and "Justice League of America," often incorporating Black characters into the core of the fabled franchises.
McDuffie's latest work was the script for the "All Star Superman" animated adaptation, which went on sale today in stores across America. CBR ran a lengthy interview with McDuffie about that project last week and caught up with him, looking in good health and acting jovial, last week at the Paley Center's Los Angeles premier for the film. McDuffie's last known public statement was a post to his Facebook page Sunday at 12:17 PM Pacific. He was scheduled to sign at Golden Apple Comics tomorrow evening as part of Reggie Hudlin's Reggie's World launch party.
The writer is survived by his wife, though at this point no further details are available on what exactly happened to McDuffie. The staff of Comic Book Resources offers our deepest condolences to his family and friends."

Rest in Peace, Dwayne McDuffie. I am very grateful for what you did with your gifts in the time that you spent in this world. You will be greatly missed.

It's not easy being a token. The temptation to be stereotypical or a cliche character is great, but when you're "cool" enough, you can be you and fit in as if you're no different from the rest and still manage to stand out as a superstar.
Frozone is such a stud. As the only black character in one of my favorite animated movies, he wasn't the "Black Guy" - he was the "Cool Guy." That alone is enough to be recognized in my line up of fan artworks for Black History Month.

I've mentioned before that Storm is one of my favorite X-Men. So, when I decided to do some pieces for weekly fan art for Black History Month, she was second on my list (first is yet to come).
Storm was the first black female to play a major role in either of the two big comic companies, Marvel or DC, and is noted to be the most successful and recognizable black superhero today.

"Making people smile (these days, that's a talent!); Strangely, I can hear a hummingbird's wings way before anyone can see it; and I can build my pectorals up in no time after an extended period time off."

What projects are you currently working on?

"I'm writing a mainstream horror novel titled, The Rascal; starting a third Jasper Lane book; and working on my next foray into the comic book world. Those are the chief bad boys I'm working on, but there are others."

Do you have a favorite genre to write?

"I really enjoy magical realism or speculative fiction. most people know me for comedies or erotica, but those are actually new genres for me."

Are there any writers who influenced your writing style?

"Quite a few. James Purdy, John Knowles, Carol Shields, Marion Zimmer Bradley, John Irving, Jeanette Winterson, Geoff Ryman. The list is ever-expanding."

Do you have a 'flow?' Is there a routine you go through to get into writing mode?

"Not really. I try to think of a great sentence to get the ball rolling, but that's about it."

What do you do to get over writer's block?

"I usually just put it away and work on something else until inspiration strikes again. Usually, that doesn't take too long. Music helps in this as well. I've had some killer scenes inspired by music."

You have a new book out and another one on the way. Tell us a little about them?

"From the blurb of Another Enchanted April (because it's easier ;-)):

'Can the idyllic simplicity of a garden change a life forever? It's a question three men on a vaction to the small seaside town of beechwood will find the answer to when they stay at a B&B with an expansive and breathtakingly beautiful garden. a garden with an air of the supernatural. In recognition of Black History Month, I worked up some fan art of some of my favorite black characters from the world of comics and toons.
The first is the one and only Chef from SouthPark. He was one of TV's sexiest and most entertaining black toons in history. Chef is an inspirational example of how being a minority in a small minded environment can be overcome with a positive attitude, a spirit of perseverance, and a whole lotta sexiness.

"I can make up alternative song lyrics on a whim pretty easily as a song is playing. Most of the time they are perverted lyrics. Not much of a talent."

"Turn into anyone I want like Mystique from X-Men. Also to be immortal and not grow old, but not with any negative reproductions like having to drink blood."
What would you use it for?
"The children. It's always for the children."
Who is your favorite fictional villain?
"The evil Queen from Snow White. Oh and the White Witch from Narnia. She kicks major ass!"

How old were you when you came out?
"17 ...seems like ages ago. Oh wait it was!"

If you could have dinner with 3 dead people, who would they be?
"I'm not sure I could make myself eat food with three zombies around me."

What projects are you currently working on?
"Commissions. I am so slow with these - takes me forever to finish them."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"Wow, All over the place! I think when I first started drawing anime style, I tried to mimic other artist styles but now I do my own style. There are too many influences to name them all."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"Backgrounds. I have gotten a bit better at them but I still would rather do characters."

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"Being able to create something special that not many others can do."

Do you have any tips or tricks for overcoming blocks in creativity?
"No. I still have not figured that one out. Time usually is what gets rid of a block."

If you had to replace your artistic talent with another one, what would it be?
"To be an excellent singer and performer. Being like Lady gaga comes to mind."

This month's Q&A is with the incredible and sexy Michael Breyette. Michael's works are nothing less than amazing and defines the difference between porn and erotica. What trait do you like most about yourself?
"Empathy"

Which characteristic do you like least in others?
"Selfishness/self-centered"

Who is your favorite fictional villain?
"It's between Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin and Rush Limbaugh, those clowns cannot be for real"

Do you have any talents outside of art?
"Cooking, *%@$-ing and @*$#-ing"

If you had to replace your talent with another one, what would it be?
"I assume you mean my art talent and not the others I just mentioned? I think I'd like to write. I've dabbled and i enjoy the similar creative aspect."

How old were you when you came out?
"It was a slow process that probably started around 22, telling a few people here and there. By the time I was in my early 30's, it felt inconsequential to tell or not tell, I just started being myself."

How would you like to die?
"Absorbed by the sun when it turns into a red giant in a few billion years."

MICHAEL BREYETTE: Art

Do you have a favorite medium to work with?
"Pastels, as dirty as they are, I like the effect and they allow me to work."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"Boris Vallejo, Michael Whelan, Patrick Nagel, Not sure how much of their style is reflected in mine, but their art inspired me."

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"The end result, that's why I do it. I'm not one of those artist who enjoys the process, I want to see the finished piece."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?"
"I used to have a longer list of things that caused me frustration, but I challenged myself and eventually figured them out. However, hands can still cause me problems, and patterned surfaces and fabrics like plaids are tough in pastel because I use my fingers a lot and it's hard to blend without blurring the lines and edges."

You are amazingly accurate in your paintings (if 'painting' is the right word). Do you work from pictures or do the studs in your work actually model for you?
"No real models unless I count myself. The rest are composites of various pieces and references to keep them realistic looking but are not real people as a whole."

What tools do you use to create your work?
"Before I grab paper, pastels, pastel pencils and an eraser to work on the actual piece, I develop my idea by building a blue print. I use various images and take photos (sometimes of myself), and cut and paste body parts together in Photoshop - cropping, rotating, resizing, etc. From that I make a drawing, tweaking, filling in gaps, etc. Then when I've worked everything out I get out the paper and pastels and begin what will be the final piece."

What projects are you currently working on?
"I'm always working on a new piece. Publisher, Brüno Gmunder, is considering a new book of my work, (if I have enough pieces to fill one) and I'm putting together my 2011 calendar."

Wassup Everybody!

It's December?!?! I said it once and I'll say it again. This year FLEW by!
2010 is coming to an end, but it's not over yet! We have some birthdays to acknowledge.
Both studs behind Gravity Faggot are celebrating birthdays this month- Johnny Freedom on the 11th and Mark Padilla on the 25th. LA socialite and artist, Aman Chaudhary will be birthday bashin on the 20th and Rick artist, David Morales, celebrates on the 22. And closing out the year with a birthday is the awesome David Cantero.

Ok so it's been a minute since I've posted a Q&A. I'm very happy to get back into the swing of it with such a great and fun artist, Gninrom. This Finlander perv has gotta be one of the most popular slash artist in the blogging world. I love that he mimics the original style of the characters and yet somehow always makes it recognizable as his own. A technique I'm workin on improving in my own fan and slash works.

How old were you when you came out?
"I think I was near 18! I came out to my dearest friend and after that she told me she was a lesbian!! Hahaha!!"

What trait do you like most about yourself?
"I never give up. I have an indomitable temper. Thanks to my half Russian, kick-ass mom! Haha!"

What traits do you like least in others?
"Greedy people and narcissist are the worst."

What super hero are you most like?
"Daredevil or Punisher. I like to get rid of the bad guys permanently"

Do you have any other talents outside of art and writing?

What is your favorite part of drawing?
"Coloring"

Very interesting. I think your coloring technique is the most recognizable trait to your style. Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"There's definitely someone but after listening to another friend over/instead of me, this person lost all his respect points. But there is many fantastic artist who's art I really adore!! I get influences from everyone and everywhere!!"

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"Oh yes there is! Overly violent, Gore, Guro and Scat are definite NO NOs"

Ok. I'm gonna admit, I didn't know what Guro was before this interview. I would have to include that in my list of No Nos too. What part of drawing do you like the least?
"I don't really like making backgrounds, especially if there's tons of small details to tinker with BUT it's extremely important for a comic artist, so I try to enjoy it as much as I can. Always concentrate on parts/areas you don't like. Eventually they'll be as enjoyable as the rest and you'll be damn good on those. Also, don't ever rush."

What tools do you use to create your work?
"Sometimes traditional but mostly digital these days. I use Photoshop and Sai for making all the smexy smut =) "

What are you doing when you're not drawing?
"Spending quality time with my Sammy =)"

What projects are you currently working on?
"I was working with Dante's Cove's super famous actor, Charlie David, on a comic called Shadowlands. But unfortunately had to withdraw myself from the project because I was offered a new job as AD Team Leader with a payment as half as much I used to earn. I also have 4 comic books under work: Harker Street, Alternative Life, Zack & Bonkers, and Nalle Massulainen ( a Finnish children storybook.) I'm also assembling a 3D modeler/porter/riggerteam for a real game character porn project. Lost of fun stuff coming up!! :) "

Thank you for your support. Thank you for your comments, your messages, and your emails while I attempted to help my dad through a disastrous return of cancer. I can not express how positive he and I felt about beating it. On Friday, October 1st, my dad died.

In moments of strength, I like to believe that our mortal comprehensions of "victory" or "winning" transcend the philosophy of "living to fight another day."
My dad was in a lot of pain and "beating cancer" would have involved a lengthy process of treatments that would have caused even more pain. So, I try to think that passing was the best "win" he would have got out of this fight.
I don't have as many moments of strength as I'd like, but they feel great when I have them.

So, thank you. Thank you for your good vibes, thank you for your positivity, and thank you for the love. I am grateful to have a world full of amazing friends and such supportive fans.

Hi Everyone,

I'm very appreciative of my fans and I know many of you like to use these calendars, so I wanted to at least keep up with that while I go through a hard time.
That said, it's also important to recognize and celebrate life. French artist and one of my favorites, Logan, has a birthday coming up on the 4th. Glen Hanson has a birthday on the 11th; photographer, Drew Martyn, on the 18th, and Steve MacIsaac closes out this months birthdays on the 21st.

I also want to take this opportunity to make a public apology to both Logan and Chubtoons.
I am a big fan of both of these artist and I am embarrassed that I did not showcase their features with the same enthusiasm as previous artist. I will be doing my best to make up for this later.
To avoid repeating this disservice, I will not be featuring a Q&A this month.

Takin a Time Out

Several years ago my father beat cancer, or so we thought. His cancer has recently returned and a few days ago he was diagnosed terminal. He and I have not lost hope and remain optimistic. He and I seem to be the only ones, but we're optimistic nonetheless.
It has been increasingly difficult for me to draw lately. So, I'm taking a time out.
I do not know how long I will be away, but I can assure you I will be back.

What are you doing when you're not drawing?
"Wishing I was drawing."

How old were you when you came out?
"22...Yeah, I know, old"

If you could have dinner with 3 dead people, who would they be?
"I guess I'd like to dine with three of the sexiest men in Hollywood - John Candy, Tor Johnson, and Fatty Arbuckle."

Do you have any other talents outside of art?
"I'm told my cooking is quite good."

What single super power would you like to have?
"I wrote a short blog-story once about a character who could manifest holes in space. He could open one side of a hole in one spot and the other side of the hole in another spot. I called him 'The Sneak' because he could travel instantly to any place, steal anything, spy on anyone, or cut anything by simply closing a hole around it. He could alter the size of anything by making one side of a whole bigger or smaller and just pulling the item through the hole. I would love to have a truly cool power like that."

If you had to replace your talent with another one, what would it be?
"Computer skills - that way I could at least make money doing something I'm good at."

How would you like to die?
"With my hubbies with me."

What projects are you currently working on?

"Currently trying to find time to pencil issue one of Captain Fattastic. The script has been done for months."

I'm always gonna be a cheerleader for artist who's work represents the underdogs in the gay community. Is there any forethought into making chub characters or do they just come out that way?
"It's a matter of drawing what I find attractive. Chubs are indeed a sort of underdog, but they tend to take top billing in my imagination. I guess if there is any forethought , it is more subconscious. But I also have a soft (hard) spot for smaller, leaner, muscular types. What ever the body type, I like to make sure I incorporate as many different personalities and ethnicities as possible. I intend to celebrate *all* men."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"Not that I know of. I just tend to draw certain things more than others."

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"The moment when I draw something that I like and it clicks inside my brain; and I say to myself, 'Oh, fuck, yes!' Usually it will be unintentional or I'll be trying to do one thing and it ends up looking like something else. A lot of my inspiration comes from the drawing itself as I'm working on it."

What part of drawing do you like the least?
"Second guessing myself. Sometimes I destroy paper by erasing the same area 10 or 15 times."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"Well, there's Disney...that's the biggest influence. I find that I draw heavily from stylized cartoons and comics. When I see something I like, I emulate it and then see how it fits into what I'm already doing. If it works - keep it. If it doesn't - let it go like a little animal in the wild."

Will you be making any appearances at any upcoming conventions?
" I wish...I'm hoping to make it to SDCC next year."

Hey Everybody!

September already? That means summer will be coming to an end soon. So make the most of the heat, folks.

Today is the birthday of Black Wade artist, Andärle. On the 11th, cartoonist, Andy Bauer, rings in another year of life. Artist, Rob Clarke, celebrates a birthday on the 14th and blog artist, Larry Hayes on the 20th. You'll noticed I also included Dr. Dick's birthday on the 11th.. For those of you not familiar with him, Dr. Dick is a sex therapist who includes podcast interviews with erotic artist on his site. I will be doing one with him very soon. "I actually finish Demios 2 and I'm working on both Porky 4 and 5."

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"Story-boarding and sketching, the rest is just technique"

"Drawing the same thing twice because I didn't save my file that damn software crashes again!"

Do you have any words of wisdom for those of us aspiring to make a career for ourselves in the comic world?
"If you want to be published and take the job seriously, you have to consider what exactly we are talking about. Making a comic book is not just drawing nicely. You have to realize that you are a storyteller (even if you are only the penciller and you work with a writer- you still have to tell a story with your drawings). It's the most important thing. if you're not concerned about the backgrounds, the scene transitions, the rhythm of a scene, the framing and all that stuff that helps storytelling, then you're just an illustrator (not a bad thing - but it's a different job) and you'd probably do yourself a favor making art books instead of comic books. reading comic books and analyzing what you read is the best way to learn. Now for the drawing technique and the skill, the only thing that works is practice!"

It's not all fun and games, being an erotic comic artist. What would you say are/or have been some of the biggest challenges in the industry for you?
"Not to be influenced by criticism or what other people wanted you to draw. You know, when you're an erotic comic artist, you tell a lot about your own sexual fantasies. You don't do that for money, it has to be a very genuine act. So, I have been criticized about the size of my character's cock or because (especially in Porky) some people didn't like the amount of dialogue. Other people find that there is no genuine feelings in Porky (which is wrong, there's a lot of feelings, but not 'only-feel-good ones' for sure). Well, I draw giant cocks because I love giant cocks, I write dialogues because I want to characterize my protagonist. And I'm not writing Super-Duper so, yes, I mix domination, violence, horror, porn, humor, and everything useful to tell my story properly! So to resume, you have to draw sincerely what you have in mind and not what you think people would like to read. Then, you'll find your true readership."

AMEN, Logan. Amen! As someone who draws exaggerated dicks, myself, I couldn't agree with you more. Besides, a cartoonist once told me, "If you're going to cartoon something - do something that can't be done with a real person, otherwise that's what photos are for." I like to draw exaggerated hands and feet too, but people aren't so quick to comment bout those. I'm with ya, brother. I don't think big dicks should be something we have to be embarrassed about. ;) Anyways... movin' on...

I have a feeling the comic Porky is more autobiographical than fiction.
The biggest thrill for me in doing these Q&As is the excitement of getting to know the artist behind all the smut. Logan is no exception. I have a new found fascination with him. He is silly and piggish and I find it hot. I'm gonna admit, I got wood when he sent me the pic of him with a big cheeky grin and an even bigger cucumber. When someone is as upfront with their sexuality as Logan is, I can't help it, I get turned on.

It's August people.
We're 8 months into 2010 and those of us in the northern hemisphere have about one and a half months left of summer. I feel like this year is goin' so fast if I stop to think about last month, I might get whiplash.

This month is ass-packed with birthdays!
Muscle-Daddy and Photographer, Tom Bianchi, celebrates another year today. Rated-Z Studio's Sean-Z deserves birthday spankings on the 7th. French artist, Sébastien Di Fazio will be having birthday cosmos on the 10th. Punkster-artist, Drub, will be sportin' his birthday boots on the 14th. On the 26th, you might catch Patrick Fillion in a classy birthday suit. Cartoonist, Chris DeCarlo, brings in another year on the 28th. And faithful blog commentator/artist, Jubell, will be havin a birthday blast on the 29th.
Most of these artist are on Facebook (and I think twitter as well), so you can show them some love on there or you can send them a friendly birthday wish through their emails on the sites I've linked their names to.

This month's Q&A is with French artist, Logan. The "sex maniac" lets us in on how he ticks and what makes him oink. You won't be disappointed.

This week, Patrick shares some secrets to success in the world of comics and gives us a forecast for the future of Class Comics.

PATRICK FILLION: Art & Comics

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"Drawing is actually quite restful...and it's total "me" time. I can just dive into what I am doing and it's all very "zen!" LOL!
I also love the inking stage. When I've just completed pencils I am really pleased with, committing a drawing to ink is such a joy."

Which part of drawing do you like the least?
"Believe it or not, the inking stage. LOL! Sometimes, I wish that I were a bit faster. I like to get things done and move on to the next project."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"The most notable mainstream influences on my artistic style are probably Alan Davis, Daerrick Gröss, Steve Lightle, John Byrne, Michael Golden, and Ray Schultze in terms of male erotica. That man can draw a mean penis."

Which of your characters is most like you?
"They've all got a little of me in their personas."

Which of your characters would you most like to be?
"Either Camili-Cat or Zahn... it's a close tie between those two. I think it would be awesome to be Cam because he's just so freakin' hot and beautiful. And I think it would be fun to be Zahn because he's also very hot, but believe me when I tell you, he's also INCREDIBLY powerful. Maybe I could take turns being them? That would ROCK!"

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"I've always pretty much believed that you have to challenge yourself when you draw. You should force yourself to draw things you wouldn't normally be interested in drawing in order to push your skills further. I think for me the things I dislike drawing the most are technical backgrounds and mechanical objects, like buildings or vehicles. That being said, I do draw them when it's necessary, because it's part of the job, and I always feel really good when I complete the drawing and it turns out. That's kinda cool!"

What projects are you currently working on?
"Oh- Boy! There's always so many at once.
Here goes: my new hardcore art book, published by Brüno Gmunder, called 'ilLUSTrations: The art of Patrick Fillion.' #1, Zahn #2, Stephane's Funhouse of Fornication #1, Boytoon Adventures #2, Cube: After DarqueNaked Justice: Beginnings #2 (as writer), Ghostboy and Diablo #1 (as writer), and a few other little things here and there. See what I mean - when I say I don't sleep much! LOL!"

It feels like you're launching a new book, title, or artist by the day. What's ahead for Class Comics?
"There's a lot of really cool stuff ahead for Class Comics...of course there are more wicked comics and artist coming up, but there's also a few cool new developments.
Fraser and I are currently in the midst of looking into producing the official Class Comics action figure with a great toy manufacturer. Being a huge collector of toys myself, I've always dreamed of the day when I'd see my characters as action figures. I can't tell you how excited I am about this.
Another cool thing we're developing is a Class Comics app for the iPhone or android phone.
And that's just the start of what's ahead. I'm really looking forward to all the terrific new books we have planned. There's some great stuff in the works by a lot of really creative folks!"

Do you have any tips or tricks for overcoming blocks in creativity?
"Yeah - when I feel artist block coming on, I try to 're-discover' my passion and love for what I do by taking the time to go through all the previous projects I've worked on and remember the fun I had on those. I also find that nothing gets me eager to draw more than looking at the works of some of my favorite mainstream and male erotic comic artist. It's all about immersing yourself in your love of the genre. If that fails, nothing breaks artist block like an impromptu trip to your local comic shop. It's a nice distraction and usually by the time I get back to the studio, I am good to draw again! It's like 'chicken soup' for the artist's block. For me, it works every time!"

I admire how successful you are as a self-made artist and entrepreneur. Do you have any words of wisdom for those of us aspiring to make a career for ourselves in the comic world?
"Awww! I'm blushing!!! Mighty kind of you! :0)
Words of Wisdom... lemme see...
Be yourself - find your own art style and focus on what makes you, well, 'you.'
Everybody has influences and other artist whose work they admire, but above all, I feel it's important to develop your own art identity. Also - and I don't mean this to sound harsh, but trust me...years of running Class Comics has taught me that you either got it or you don't. Find out which it is.
Look, I'd like to say never to give up on your dreams and absolutely, you never should...but it's important to be realistic and know whether or not you have true talent and have what it takes to make it in the industry. Wanting to be something really badly doesn't automatically make you a likely candidate for success. Buuuuuuuutt...I do believe in hard work and persistence. Drawing is a talent, but it's also a skill which can be honed and developed. There's a lot to be said for perseverance."

What would you consider your biggest challenge in starting your own erotic comic company and how did you overcome it?
"I think it was being taken seriously by other comic artist and companies. There is a certain stigma that accompanies the 'adult' label. It's like people sometimes think that because you draw and publish gay erotica, you're some big pervert or something. Also, a lot of folks seem to think that because you draw adult material, you're either not a real artist, or you're somehow less of an artist. That's tough. It's also bullshit!
How did I overcome that? With perseverance and by sticking to what I love and do best. I still get the occasional 'bigoted' reaction now and again, but it doesn't phase me the way it used to. I know what I've accomplished and how hard I've had to work to get there. I just don't need to justify myself or my art to them anymore."

I can appreciate how 'snobby' and/or judgmental talented people can be, especially when they are successful - which is why I love Patrick so much! Patrick has to be one of the most humble and helpful people I've met in this industry.
I'm sure at least half of you reading this have had an experience where you've sought out tips or advice from someone you admire and only got half-assed or generic 'advice' in return as if they had something to be threatened by in helping you become a better artist. Patrick Fillion just shared his experiences and offered some very useful tips without any hesitation. On top of that he encourages the success of other artist on a regular basis by recognizing them on his blog, Boytoons Magazine. I have the greatest respect for Patrick Fillion.

This month's feature artist, Patrick Fillion, inspired a frenzy of fan art from yours truly. So, each week this month I'll be givin' you a load or two of my own ;)

I've learned Patrick and I have a ton in common. For starters, we share Storm among our favorite comic characters. Storm has been my favorite since I picked up my first X-Men book in 1990. I wanted her powers and wanted to rule a mob of people lurking in the shadows. I used to run around quoting her melodramatic lines from the 90's cartoon series like, "Storm - Mistress of the elements commands you!" or "Arrrrrtic winds, make ICE!"
ok. So I still run around quoting her, but the bitch is BAD!

In spirit of sharing favorite characters with Patrick, I took the opportunity to do my favorite of his characters. Felix Himmer, aka Naked Justice, is exactly the type of hero I would be in a world of supers. I'd run around naked, cock-shocking bad guys and ass pounding studs in peril.

I LOOOOOOOOOVE this man!
It's easy to admire Patrick for his talent and ambition. In my opinion, Patrick's the hottest thing to happen to comics since Tom of Finland. He's also very easy on the eyes. But what I appreciate most about Patrick, is his HUGE pe ... rsonality! I've learned Patrick to be very down to earth and friendly. I admire how freely and genuinely he encourages other artist while balancing the strenuous job of writing, illustrating, and running a business.
When I share Q&A's with you guys, I normally narrow it down to about 21 questions but I was so entertained and excited to share Patrick's responses with you, I decided to present his responses unedited. I'm sure you guys will enjoy getting to know him a lil' more just as much as I did.

"Halloween and Christmas...they're sorta tied for me!"

What are you doing when you're not drawing (or creating)?
"Uhm...I rarely have time off and sadly I don't sleep much...but I suppose I try to catch up on TV and zone out a bit!"

Is there a creed or motto you live by?
"Everyone deserves respect and justice!"

How old were you when you came out?
"18 going on 19"

What trait do you like most about yourself?
"I am very diplomatic, without being mushy!"

What characteristic do you like least in others?
"Liars and hypocrites who have disrespect for others and try to get ahead by cheating."

Which living person do you most admire?
"That's a tough one...probably have to say Annie Lennox. She's always been a strong influence in my life. She's so passionate and talented, and when she puts her mind to something...LOOK OUT 'cause she's comin' through. I admire that a great deal!"

If you could have dinner with 3 dead people, who would they be?
"Bea Arthur, Dixie Carter and my Grandmother whom I miss very much! Dinner with these three amazing ladies would be a total HOOT! Although someone would have to translate for my grandmother. She only spoke French!"

Do you have any other talents outside of art and writing?
"Yup! Singing and song writing. Before deciding to focus primarily on drawing and comics, I was signed to a Canadian record label."

What single super power would you like to have?
"Dude - EASY! I would LOVE to control the weather like Storm... or to a lesser extent, like Zahn! Heh! Heh! Heh!"

What would you use it for?
"Uhm.. to end injustice... yeah, that's it!"

Who is your favorite fictional Villain?
"I am not usually very keen on bad guys... fictional or otherwise. But I would have to say that from a very early age, I've always thought the Baroness was the coolest villainess out there."

If you had to replace your talent with another one, what would it be?
"I'd like to be able to build things. My father and my brother are both carpenters by trade and can build you a freakin' designer kitchen with a couple q-tips and a pile of kindle. Now that's impressive"

What is your biggest indulgence?
"Oh GOD - I love sweets! Cakes, pies, chocolate, and candies... once in a while, I allow myself to binge. Then it's treadmill time! HA! HA! HA! Better than making myself throw it all up I guess!"

What is your biggest pet peeve?
"Intolerance and small-mindedness."

How would you like to die?
"I wouldn't! But rich and famous would be nice...and oh yeah...REALLY freakin' old! Like, I dunno, around 197! Though I figure in a few years they'll perfect cloning and I can order up a new body to have my brain transferred into! Mwah-HA! HA!"

Summer's here, Pride is in the air, and I'm workin' hard on some hot projects I can't wait to share with you guys.

I'm a big fan of a lot of artist. Any artist that inspires me to push my work further or just leaves me in awe of what they've done with their talent gets complete and humbled respect from me. So with that said, let me just say I am ecstatic about presenting this month's Q&A with Jacob.

What is your favorite guilty pleasure?
"Straight Porn! LOL"

What are you doing when you're not drawing?"I try to keep my evenings free to spend with my husband. We either sit and watch a movie or TV, play on PS3/Wii, or we'll be out socializing. I'm pretty much wiped out at the end of the day, which probably sounds weird as all I do is sit on my butt drawing, but it does take it out of you!"

What trait do you like most about yourself?
"My work ethic and stubborn determination to succeed. You never get anywhere in life if you aren't willing to fight for what you want, put in the hours to accomplish your goals, and be prepared to pay some serious dues."

What characteristic do you like least in others?"Self-Pity. I loathe it."

Which living person do you most admire?
"I don't really admire any one person as such (I have an arrogant streak a mile wide that prevents that!) I do, however, have huge respect and admiration for anyone who's overcome the odds to stand up and be counted in life. Whether that's because of disability, race, gender, sexual orientation, whatever."

What single super power would you like to have?
"Magneto's control of magnetism, easily. It's one power, but gives you so many options. Plus Magneto's just one of the very best comic characters ever, and a great metaphor for an angry gay rights activist."

What would you use it for?
"Disarming the entire world"

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"I've grabbed inspiration from hundreds of sources, from Golden Age to Modern-day comic creators, to Disney and Dreamworks, to blockbuster movies, to something I'll see in real life. An artist should never stop being influenced by everything around him, in my opinion."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"I'm not a huge fan of drawing backgrounds, like so many other artist. My interest, both in reading comics and in creating them, is the emotion of the character and the character themselves. I'm never impressed with say, a double page spread of a cityscape. It's very impressive technically, but doesn't evoke emotion in me."

Which Super Hero is most like you?
"Wolverine. People have told me time and again that I could pass for him (these are comic people, talking about comic Wolverine. At 5'6" I'm no Hugh Jackman!) I've got that whole grumpy/softer side fiercely."

Who is your favorite fictional villain?
"I'm a huge Villain fan, so it changes all the time. Right now, I'd probably have to say Randy Orton from WWE. I know he's a real guy, but his character counts as fictional right? He's just SO evil, I love it. Plus he's fuckin' hot!"

Which Super Villain are you most like?
"Again, I'd have to say Magento, I think. The whole "rights of my people" thing strikes a chord with me."

What project(s) are you currently working on?
"I'm working on Naked Justice: Beginnings for Class Comics, as well as my own adventures of Lawsuit and T-Boy."

I'm lovin' what I've seen of your comic, Lawsuit & T-Boy. Can you give us a teaser of what we can look forward to in their adventures?

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Avatar: The Last Airbender is probably my favorite cartoon series in my adult life. I've always been a sucker for elemental powers, so I probably would have watched it even if it wasn't great. But this cartoon was a breath of fresh air. It was original and very well written. All of the characters are entertaining and the story takes you on an imaginative adventure through a fanciful world. Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network, both, could use more cartoons like The Last Airbender.

I made a list of Asian characters I considered drawing as part of my tribute to Asian History Month and decided to Jezz up the Avatar himself as a reminder that despite the casting in the upcoming movie, Ang is as Asian as any other big eyed, Manga-ish cartoon character.

I've done more than my share of ranting about how racist it is to cast Asian and Inuit influenced characters with white actors and make the bad guys - Arab. So, I'm going to say something from a different head space. I'm hoping the Last Airbender's message about war and friendship is what influenced the casting and racial rewrites. M. Night Shyamalan doesn't have a very good record of making good movies or even thinking that deeply about them in the first place, but still I can hope. Better to hope than to walk around angry about a bad director's stupidity, hehe :)

I've heard a saying that every artist is creating a subconscious self-portrait in every piece of work he creates. If that is true, I am dying to meet this weeks feature, Monkeygogo. The BBC (British Born Chinese - isn't that adorably hilarious? Monk is the one who put me on to that...I'm rambling) artist illustrates muscled studs in an original Manga-ish style that leaves me inspired. "Cooking is my talent! I come from a family of cooks so I've inherited a keen interest in food and preparation My BF enjoys my curries - which I take pride in making."

What project(s) are you currently working on?
"Currently I got a few things going on for my blog, but I gotta keep it quiet and reveal it as time comes. The problem is that work is a bit demanding as I've recently been promoted and as a result there's more responsibilities for me to take on :( However my Monkeygogo work is my life so I'll try to do as much as I can but bare with me, guys."

Is there anything you don't like to draw?
"Yunno I think there's very little I won't attempt to draw. I'll give anything a try but on the whole I guess I'd say I wouldn't draw women - not that there's anything wrong about the female form - I'm just saying I'd draw females the least cos my interests are in male forms."

What is your favorite part about drawing?
"My favourite part is drawing the lines! It might sound stoopid but it's very special in my mind - you can never draw 2 lines a like so the one you decide to keep is kinda really special. Each drawing is very unique and personal to oneself. Everybody has their own style and its great to see how it reflects one's character."

What part of drawing do you like the least?
"Oooo I don't think there is a part I like the least - though it's probably the final stage where i have to crop the image to better frame it. I get so precious with the image that I don't want to see anything removed but it does happen."

Who were/are some of the biggest influences on your artistic style?
"Personally an artist called Nakatax began my obsession, however, Takeshi Matsu is currently my favourite - I really like the way he draws bodies and faces - I've tried to learn what I can from looking at his work"

Who is your favorite fictional villain?
"Ooooooooo favourite villain must be the Borg Queen from tar trek - and here I reveal my geeky side"

Which comic or cartoon hero is most like you?
"I really don't know - I don't know any cartoon heroes as perverted as me ;) "

Ok. I was never much of an IronMan fan, not that I'm one now, BUT I was impressed with the first movie. I didn't have any expectations and left feeling I got my money's worth of entertainment.
I'm back at zero with the sequel. I have little interest in seeing it. Micky Rourke kinda ruins it for me. However, the trailers did inspire me, and here is the product of that inspiration.
